Each Project or Job that Fitzgerald Construction undertakes normally has some particular challenge associated with it i.e. a tight time frame, budget constraints, design challenges etc.

Highlighted below is a few of the current or recent projects and a brief overview of the scope of each one.  Recently Stephen of Fitzgerald Construction Ltd received recognition for one of the projects below, find out more here.

Shone & Shirley Funeral Home

NMIT - Applied Technology Facility

Victorian Rose - Earthquake Strengthening

House Renovation - Kitchen/Bathroom

CityFitness Nelson

Contract: Shone & Shirley Funeral Home
Location: Tahunanui Drive, Tahunanui
Price: $978,000

This is a new build construction contract for a purpose built funeral home on a large site in Tahunanui.  Shone & Shirley have been operating from premises they outgrew some time ago.  This building will offer them much more room to operate along with more car parking.

  Contract: NMIT Applied Technology Facility
Location: Hardy Street, Nelson Price: $8 million

Before we were considered to tender we had to prove our experience over a range of architects criteria.  We satisfied this criteria and with the excellent relationship we have with our subcontractors there was a seamless merging of all trades to ensure the best quality and on-time build, no small task for a project of this size.

After Construction was completed.
Contract: Victorian Rose - Earthquake Strengthening
Location: Trafalgar Street, Nelson

A challenging project, made even more so due to tight timeframes, saw our crew working well into the night to minimise disruption to the tenant.

After the building had been strengthened to the new standards required it was then sympathetically refurbished to a quality finish whilst retaining the historic detail of the building.

Contract: Kitchen/Bathroom Renovation
Location: Collingwood Street, Nelson

This 1901 villa renovation required special attention to ensure that the character of the home was not unbalanced by a new kitchen and bathroom, along with extensions to the deck and changes to the entrance way.  The owners are over the moon with the changes and are particularly pleased with a far more functional kitchen and bathroom space, both which flow with the rest of the home.

Contract: Build new gym for CityFitness
Location: Quarantine Road, Stoke, Nelson
Price: $5m

This particular project was extremely challenging in the sense that this 3000 m2 plus building had a short time frame of 11 months set due to the release of existing leases. This included the design, resource consent, building consent and demolition of the existing building, as well as the construction of the new building.
